Water Purifying Stove

Water Purifying Stove

March 18, 2017

For several years now Agua Pura has been working to help build a water purifier that can produce large quantities of clean water for communities to use and for emergencies. Now we’re getting close to having it ready to use and we want to show it to you!

The stove was designed at InStove, a partner organization dedicated to making large, super-efficient wood stoves.  Their stoves use no electricity and can be used anywhere for cooking, for hospital sterilization of supplies and now, for making lots of clean water.

The stove uses a flow through coil that sits in a bath of very hot water and as the water passes through it almost immediately reaches a temperature that pasteurizes the water and makes it safe to drink.  Then as the water flows out of the pasteurizer it is cooled back to a safe temperature.  Special heat sensitive valves open and close to allow only clean drinking water to come out.

We at Agua Pura are using our methods to rigorously test the pasteurizer to make sure it is safe and others will then review our results for accuracy.  We will test to see if it can purify water many times worse than would ever be encountered in real life.  When we are done we can guarantee its’ safety.

Of course this is only the first step in the process. We are excited to be a part of this project and look forward to continuing working with our InStove partners to bring this new technology to the communities that need clean water around the world.

You’re a big part of this project as well!  It is your donations and support that keep it going, and you personally are helping bring clean water and healthy lives to families throughout Latin America and around the world. Can you help families this Christmas season by making a tax-deductible donation to Agua Pura?

Thank you so much!
